Ahh, the beloved run day of the week- speed work day. Gotta love it! It may the most challenging training run of the week mentally and physically- but is the most effective. The run that helps you attain your time goals.
I always put a serious-don't-show-the-pain face on and charge thru the grueling ordeal. I try to run with my head high, thinking it will help me stay focused. I blast music that makes me want to charge down the street or track. And I always promise myself a treat at the end for my hard work.
So, here goes...my speed work day. I hope my shins can carry me thru it...and my mind can push me thru it.

Why yes, I am commenting on my own blog. That is probably VERY lame. I should be cooler than this. However, I wanted to update the Speed work blog.
ReplyDeleteI did it! I accomplished my task of completing 5 miles of speed work. Granted only 2 of those miles were tough.
I thought of this blog during the hurtin' part. I didn't let myself slow down because I didn't want to let the zero readers I have down. I had to complete the task- I was determined!
I began my fast mile with a great song. It kept my feet charging. Then I shuffled thru some crappy music during my recovery jog. I was determined to find another charging song to pump me thru the last mile. Guess what...my sucky IPOD died right before my last tough mile. Crappy thing! So I had to rely on my breathing (the hyperactivity of it) to keep me going. Did feel like walkin' though, towards the end of that mile-but I didn't! I thought of replying to this post. :)
So, all is done with this weeks speed work, thank goodness. Now it's a slow followed by a long. Then repeat the crazy cycle all over again.
